Science fiction bad guys

Have you ever noticed that science fiction bad guys never seem to be easily able to hit a target? I mean, think of the classic scene in Star Wars in which Luke Skywalker swung across between two platforms with multiple firing Storm Troopers. Not one person hit them. I mean, if my aim had been that bad back when, I would have been sent for extra training! Needless to say, good guys fire one shot and more than one person falls down.

This reminds me of the Star Trek red shirts. You know, if you are a new person and are wearing a red shirt, that will probably be your only episode. Did you ever notice that no enemy ship was smart enough to aim for the bridge? I mean, let’s be serious. There was never anything militarily important in decks 8 through 12. I would have aimed for either the engines or the bridge.

Well, I guess if the bad guys were either smart or had good aim, then the movie would have ended too soon, and definitely before a sequel.

I watched an episode of Dr Who today where the bad guys (Sentarans) hit a lot of the good guys in shoot outs.

The original Star Trek wasn’t called “Wagon Train to the stars” for nothing. Bad guys in TV westerns couldn’t hit anything, either.
