Clergy meeting demotivator

5 October 2010 · by  3 Comments

So as not to possibly cause problems to someone else, Father Orthoduck will not mention from where he got the demotivator above.

Sadly, as Father Orthoduck was trying to think of some witty comments to go with the poster above, he could think of none. Then Father Orthoduck thought he would go through the history of clergy meetings, such as the Council of Jerusalem, or perhaps the Galatians argument between Saint Paul and Saint Peter, or even our great Ecumenical Councils, to explain the necessity of the contentiousness of many of our meetings. That made Father Orthoduck very sad.

Finally Father Orthoduck realized that he had no good post to go along with the poster above that could adequately explain the essential accuracy of the poster above. So, Father Orthoduck has decided to go to his corner, curl into a fetal position, suck one of his feathers, and try not to count how many days it is until the next clergy meeting.

It was one of these clergy, I’m sure, who once had a television program, one of those early Sunday morning affairs broadcast by a station to keep the FCC off the owner’s back concerning “local public affairs programming.”

At the beginning of one episode, after the canned introduction, Father, or maybe, Vladyka, scowled into the camera and pronounced, “Today we will talk about da JOYS of Ortodoxy!”

    LOL. I *hope* not!

FWIW, I find clergy retreats/symposia some of the best events to attend, probably because they aren’t primarily about “the business of the Church.”

*snicker * I know EXACTLY where you got that thingie, Abouna. But I’ll keep my mouth shut.

On an unrelated note, I will be received into the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese through chrismation. Pray for me, a sinner.
