Posting suspended for a couple of days

22 May 2010 · by  Fr. Ernesto 12 Comments

My stepfather passed away around midnight yesterday. My father died when I was seven, and my mother remarried a few years later, so he has been the “dad” in my life since then. I spent all of yesterday involved in the inevitable set of rounds one must make, church, funeral home, cemetery, etc. Now I swing into the weekend services that every priest has. On Monday is the funeral, but I will be staying with mom for an extra day or so. For the moment posting is suspended, I will see you all in a few days.

As you and your family begin the grieving process, I pray that God will bring forth all of the emotions that come with this loss, that you will all allow them to surface and be experienced, that your comfort to each other will indeed bring comfort, and that you will rest in the all-powerful grace of the Lord to see you through the ups and downs as you all adjust to not having his physical presence there anymore…though he is more alive than ever, in spirit!
