Congratulations to President-elect Obama

President-elect Barack Obama

President-elect Barack Obama

Our nation has made history today. The first black president of the United States has been elected. Yet he is not simply black, he is also white. We all hope that he will bring balance to the office of the President. May God grant him many years.

At this point, it appears that President-elect Obama has won some states in every part of the country, which, as commentators have pointed out, means that it lets him avoid being labeled a regional president. He did quite well in most demographics, but he did “lose” some demographics.

It is of personal interest to me that he picked up Latinos that had previously voted for President Bush. Last election President Bush had picked up 40% of the Latino vote. However, under Sen. McCain, it sunk down to close to 30%. That provided the margin in one or two of the races. In other words, the pandering to the anti-immigrant crowd netted them fewer votes than if the Republicans had tried to propose a reasonable plan to resolve the various issues. And, Sen. McCain had done that, until he was pressured to play to the worst part of the Republican base. Hopefully, the lesson will be learned by those who do not belong to that limited demographic.

[…] Looks like I’m the only who asserts this was actually a RINO rebellion. It is of personal interest to me that he picked up Latinos that had previously voted for President Bush.
