McCain vs Obama, second debate, 30 to 50 minutes

7 October 2008 · by  Fr. Ernesto 1 Comment

The first Internet question is an excellent one. Sacrifices will have to be made. What sacrifices would you ask the American people to make? While Sen. McCain did have some good responses, again with the litany of what Sen. Obama has supposedly not done. Sen. Obama has harked back to President Kennedy’s days and called for a renewal of the Peace Corps and has called for each of us to see how we can lower energy consumption. That is, he has given a couple of good examples of what it means to sacrifice for this country.

Oh, the infamous CNN instant poll line just plummeted below the 50% line as Sen. McCain accused Sen. Obama of trying to raise taxes on people. And, it just dipped below 50% again as he claimed that Sen. Obama wanted to tax small businesses even more. The audience did not believe him.

And now, Sen. Obama has essentially refused to answer the next question to tackle the tax issue again. The question was about entitlements that are draining the USA, but he said that that issue cannot be tackled without understanding the base of our revenues. He strongly defended himself on the issue of taxes and was obviously upset by Sen. McCains direct attacks. Sen. McCain gave a boilerplate answer and now has gone back to attacking on the issue of taxes, again attacking on issues that have been shown to be, at best, exaggerations of Sen. Obama’s record. Yes, Virginia, it looks like dirt will be the name of the rest of the campaign.

The subject has finally switched to something else. This time it is the environment. Sen. McCain again has returned to the claiming that Sen. Obama’s record is completely negative on the environment. It is attack and attack and attack. Sen. Obama has responded to that issue as well. Mr. Brokaw is about to explode over the way that the two candidates keep ignoring the time limits and going on and on. He is speaking to them more and more strongly.
