My wife and I are sitting in the living room watching the movie the Sound of Music. We are by turns laughing and holding hands. I had forgotten how romantic the movie is. Or, perhaps it is simply that we now look at the movie through the lens of being grandparents. But, maybe it is that I am a Latino sentimentalist. Well, our daughters constantly tease me about having learned to like “chick flicks” from my many years of living with only women in the household.
Regardless, I had forgotten how “innocent” that particular movie was. It has been an enjoyable evening together, doing absolutely nothing, listening to well-remembered songs, and simply being in each other’s presence. After 30 years of marriage, I suspect I can say that the marriage “took.” May He grant my wife and I many more years together.
