Bathsheba inkblot test

12 March 2009 · by  Fr. Ernesto 8 Comments

Was Bathsheba a victim or a perpetrator? Here is another inkblot test for you. The initial details of the story are deceptively simple: In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. […]

David Wilkerson gives warning

10 March 2009 · by  Fr. Ernesto 6 Comments

I do not believe David Wilkerson is correct. Nevertheless, this is his latest prophecy. http://davidwilkersontoday.blogspot.com/2009/03/urgent-message.html [Later edit: I am convinced that David Wilkerson is very wrong in this message. I post it so that people may know what to avoid.]

Quick prayer request

4 March 2009 · by  Fr. Ernesto 1 Comment

I do not know if I will be able to post today. I have a couple of people in the hospital just out of intensive care or the emergency room, and one in hospice. On top of that, being a Wednesday in Lent, I both have a Bible Study and an evening Lenten service. So, […]

French Foreign Legion — still there and “romantic”

19 February 2009 · by  Fr. Ernesto 1 Comment

Many of us, of a certain age, have seen the movie Casablanca on TV. And, we were impressed by a tremendously romantic movie. We may have also seen many of the clearly B movies that Hollywood turned out in the 1950’s that involved the French Foreign Legion. I believe that the character of Captain Renault […]

Groom’s side, Bride’s side

14 February 2009 · by  Fr. Ernesto Leave a Comment

You can read it in any etiquette manual. In a Christian wedding, the left side is the bride’s side, while the right side is the groom’s side. But, where does this come from? Well, frankly, I cannot prove where this comes from. But, I have an interesting piece of evidence for you. Go into an Orthodox […]

Website fixed

13 February 2009 · by  Fr. Ernesto Leave a Comment

Apparently the comments for this website have been “broken” for two or three days and I had not noticed. I have just finished tracking down the offending code. Apparently it was due to the recent WordPress 2.7.1 upgrade which broke one of my plugins. 😯 The bottom line is that you can begin commenting again.

Autism and vaccines

13 February 2009 · by  Fr. Ernesto 1 Comment

WASHINGTON (CNN) — A special court ruled Thursday that evidence presented in three cases by parents of children with autism did not prove a link between autism and certain early childhood vaccines. A special court denied Mike and Theresa Cedillo’s claim that vaccines caused autism in their daughter, Michelle. A special court denied Mike and […]

We are all socialists now – Newsweek

11 February 2009 · by  Fr. Ernesto Leave a Comment

The latest issue of Newsweek has an article titled, We Are All Socialists Now. It has a rather controversial theme which is captured in the following quote: The U.S. government has already-under a conservative Republican administration-effectively nationalized the banking and mortgage industries. That seems a stronger sign of socialism than $50 million for art. Whether […]
