And … this is why we should never allow Disney to buy the rights to produce the Chronicles of Narnia.
Could you imagine a Disney Narnia? The drama in the Chronicles would be reduced to a song and dance routine. Any difficulties in the plot would be glossed over. Mr. Tumnus would make the cutest statue. Lucy would have anime eyes and would call the cute woodland creatures to help her. Edmund would be terribly misled and would simply be sorry for his actions with no real conception of being a traitor. In fact, Disney would mostly exonerate him. Peter would be usurped by Susan, that is, she would be the main leader, regardless that Lewis shows Peter as being the main leader. Susan would also be misunderstood and wrongly blamed for wishing to be able to be part of the “modern” world.
I could go on, but you get the idea.
I once saw a local stage production of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe at which they changed Aslan into a female character. It was weird.
