Hmm, Father Orthoduck wonders if anyone remembers this old-timey song that mentions Jesus and was played on Lawrence Welk? He called it a “modern spiritual” at the end of the recording. Listen in and see what you think!

    Surreal on several different levels. I’ll take the original, written and performed by a couple of guys named “Brewer Shipley”.

    Speaking of which, the song was apparently written as a joke. See the Wikipedia article on these gentlemen.

    I wonder if Lawrence Welk knew what “one toke” actually refers to. Spiro Agnew obviously did.
